The great thing about having so many mountainous roads around is that it's a great place to hold a rally.
Rallye du Valais was on at the start of this month so Roy and I decided to head to Sion to check it out. I'm not really into cars and such but when there's an outdoor event with lots of cars going sideways around corners then I'm usually there (if it's cheap). It was only 10 Francs to get into this giant cow paddock-cum-rally track which was filled with spectators snapping photos, oohing and aaahing and drinking wine. Something that we've noticed about this great little country is that instead of people drinking beer, they drink wine (usually local wine) and eat cheese (usually local cheese) which makes it seem like a rather classy place indeed.
Upon entering the venue we were greeted by sponsors and handed a free hat from Citroen. I'm not one to turn down a freebie so I donned my new hat and went to where all the action was. Since Rally's are quite different to watch when actually being there (the cars just whiz past) we didn't stay in the one spot. We walked around trying to find the best vantage point as the cars went zooming and pop-popping past, kicking up dust as they went.

Beautiful weather! |
After our fill of cars, dust, cow poo and loud backfires from the cars we headed to my most favourite place in Sion - Les Divins Brasseurs where they sell tasty, tasty Artisanal beer.
